Media maven’s Annika Allen and Mary Florence Bello created this platform of female empowerment to celebrate the strength, depth and beauty of womanhood and share the stories of women of all ages and races. There will be a bi-monthly podcast from Mary and Annika, where topics affecting women will be discussed and dissected, complete with arguments, tears, laughter and solutions.
We want to bring about change, share information and assist in the progression of women towards a place where we have equal footing in the world and no need to argue the toss about topics such as the pay gap, sexual discrimination and the rights over our own bodies.
Annika Allen is a woman of many talents. With a career in media spanning 15 years she has worked in TV, radio, print and online for the likes Channel 4, MTV, BBC 1Xtra, Flavourmag and The Voice. When she’s not being a super sassy media mogul, Annika is honing her entrepreneurial spirit and most recently launched The Colour Network – a lifestyle and entertainment network which showcases positive stories about people from diverse ethnic backgrounds.
Mary Florence Bello worked in finance before taking the plunge and becoming a journalist nine years ago, working at various women’s magazines during which time she has interviewed Naomi Campbell (and made her laugh!) and as the editor for OK! Nigeria. Her proudest achievement by far is her three year old daughter, Lalita and she wants her little girl to grow up with the understanding that there are no limits to what she can achieve.
